apple face

to create an "apple face" snack with your little one, you just need 3 ingredients:  peanut butter, one apple, & mini marshmallows.

after slicing the apples, have your little helper spread the peanut butter.

place the mini marshmallows as the teeth. we used oreo cookies for the eyes, but ritz crachers work just as well.  your little one will surely give a giggle when he/she sees everything put together.  enjoy!

that time of year again

it's that time of year again when we are beginning to pull out the hats & gloves.  my family has a big linen box full of hats, but of course i'll buy a few new ones this year anyway.  here are some great ones i found on etsy today:

this adorable cupcake hat was created by l.a. originals just kidz.  what a great birthday picture accessory!

this penguin crochet hat by natty hatty makes me giggle.  perfect for your little snow bunny.

funky chunky poofy pom pom hat - great name, great hat!  kikiskreations has all kinds of fun hats like this for your child.  you  can even customize it by picking your own colors!

this flapper hat by melissa happy stuff would look lovely with my winter coat.  my "pseudo hubby" wouldn't have any troubles finding me in a crowd with those fabulous flowers!

i have to admit that i really hate kissing a face with facial hair.  it's scratchy and for some reason, my skin turns all red and blotchy.  of course, "psuedo hubby" wishes this wasn't so, because he wants nothing more than to grow his own beard!  i think gunderson limited has found us a compromise!  this wild man bearded hat is my very favorite.

so many choices...

we decorated cookies the other night for our weekly family cooking project.  i spread white icing on each one, while "psuedo hubby" & "the monster" did the artwork.  i knew when i looked over and saw "the monster" sucking on the end of an icing tube, that bedtime wasn't coming anytime soon.

little world

"psuedo hubby" and i went on a hike in southern illinois this weekend.  tragically, many trails in giant city are closed due to storms that swept thru last spring.  we did have some luck however and found a couple good routes to take.  i came across this "little world" living in a piece of wood that made up a bridge.  i was so content to watch the life inside of it flow back and forth.  what a wonderful world it is!
