for camp coco

during the month of december, each artist in the coop at studio on 6th has decorated gift bags that a customer can buy to wrap their gifts in.  all proceeds of the gift bags will go to camp coco - a summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings.  this is a lovely camp that gives the children time to swim, ride horses, bond, and gain confidence among many other things.  please stop in the studio this december and help us make a difference!

with warm welcome

with warm welcome, i introduce my new little niece "adeline myra".  she arrived yesterday @ 5:02pm.  my brother and his wife are "on top of the world", and i personally can't wait to meet her in person!  just look at those huge eyes!

happy birthday to a special cousin

happy birthday to our unique cousin beth!   can you tell i let "the monster" decide on the cake style?!

what you need:

 - 2 8 or 9-inch cakes

 - chocolate icing

 - coconut

 - green food coloring

 - little white candies

 - cars

after leveling the cakes, frost both with the icing.  place in  a "figure 8" on cake board(s) if you have them.  place the coconut in a sandwich bag, along with a small drop of green food coloring and shake up until all coconut is green.  spread the coconut along the outside border of the cakes.  take a fork and draw "tracks".  put a little more "grass coconut" in the middle and use the white candy to establish lanes.  lastly, add the cars!

setting the timer

the weather was perfect this weekend!  i dragged the family out for a timer-set photo shoot.  i always enjoy the "10-second-dash" to pose.  sometimes we get it, most the time we don't.  i don't think any of these will turn out to be xmas card worthy, but we had a a fun time anyway.
