it was interesting to ask "the monster" what he was thankful for. his answer was basically toys... except in much more detail. he listed off his favorite toys, where he got them, what he likes about them, and how he plays with them. although i was impressed with the detailed delivery of this material list, i couldn't help but be "mom" and explain there is more in life to be thankful for than toys.
and so, we did the following little project. i encouraged him to think about people instead of objects, as well as activities he enjoys and the natural gifts that God gave us. i did let him list one toy on a leaf, and as to be expected, it was hot wheels.
