i've always been a strong believer that you can make a simple gift seem extra special with a thoughtful presentation...
we have massive amounts of gourds growing in our yard. now, this isn't like taking tomatoes or cucumbers from the garden to a friend. you can't eat gourds. no one is thrilled to get a fresh gourd. but, i don't know what to do with 100+ of these funny looking things, so "the monster" and i decided to take them to his school. kids like weird things anyway.
after picking them, we washed the bugs off each. i traced a leaf onto pretty paper and "the monster" practiced his cutting skills. we then wrote a simple greeting on each piece of paper and "the monster" signed his name on back. i attached each little note to the gourds and put them in a dark basket. the next morning, we set this basket o' gourds on the table by the school entrance. at the end of the day, every gourd was gone.
