let's blog about fog :: nature photography

the other morning i woke up and headed outside to take care of the chickens to a clear, bright day. an hour later, we left to take "the monster" and "bump" to school and i couldn't see 20 feet in front of me! so weird.

"bump" was asking me why it was there, and i realized that all of my pre-conceived knowledge about fog couldn't be correct. i always thought it happened because the air was warmer than the ground. but it felt the same temperature outside as it did when i fed the chickens, so why wasn't there fog then?

clearly, i need to go back to elementary school science class.

morning fog :: farm photography

because the southern half of the u.s. has had so much rain lately, we've woke each morning to a lovely fog.

and... i don't know what it is about photographing fog, but i love it.  it's creepy, surreal, and beautiful all at the same time.

fall fog :: nature photography

i always grab my camera when i wake to a foggy morning.  i think the photos above are beautiful, but i must admit that i wish i was on a lake photographing sailboats in a haze.  maybe someday soon...
