hey hey! happy fri(yay) to you all! wanted to show you a few things i've been working on. i have a minor obsession with geometric everything right now. mix in a moon and i want to decorate my whole house!

these beauties will be printed on canvas and hung in the shop in just a few days. eek!

i finally holed myself up in my art room the other day and worked on a few pieces. above, are the abstracts i finished. i'm obsessed with the colors.

i find abstracts to be very modern. i like them on a big blank wall. what do you think? do you decorate with abstracts?

i have an installation coming up at a local brewery & restaurant. i was inspired to do abstract pieces because i can walk away from them pretty easily with happiness. sometimes, when i work on more detailed pieces, i spend hours obsessing...

anyway, here are a few of my favorites. the pieces will all be hanging in the same room, so i wanted to go with a similar style. what do you think?

yesterday, i told you how i'm helping raise money for the PAA by participating in 'dancing with the starz'. i am also donating some art for the silent auction. my first painting is above. i love her... she's vintage, beautiful and stylish. the perfect representation of urban sassafras!

hi friends!  i hope this day finds you full of spring excitement!  we had a wonderful long weekend full of activities.  many pictures to share later, but today i am sharing with you my most recent mixed media piece.  i think i used every medium in my art room... fabric, paint, paste, glitter, pigment powder and ink!  it's very dr. suess meets shabby chic, don't you think?!

i came across this tree in my sketchpad... it's from over a year ago.  i love it though and i'm not sure why i abandoned it.  in any case, i'm glad he's been found and i have hung him on an inspiration clipboard in my studio.  if i ever get an idea to finish the piece up, i'll let you know.  until then, enjoy!

chicago skyline :: mixed media painting

i know what you're thinking... this is different and not my style.  well, friends, this is my first commissioned piece of artwork!  i usually don't do commissioned work because i feel it stifles my creativity to have requirements for a piece of art.  but, my 'sparkly cousin' recommended me to her friend and when he told me what he wanted painted, i thought... wth?!  simple enough actually and he was pretty open-minded about  any ideas.  so yay!  there ya have it.

art in the garden :: mixed media

i am loving the color-blocking trend right now... which has inspired my 'art in the garden' donation for the annual fundraiser at lincoln memorial garden.  aren't they fun?  please pardon the paper wrinkles - the images are printed on a linen paper, which is so thin the paint distorted it a bit.  i have them flattening in a heavy book as you read this.  i need to figure out how to frame them...  my original thought was to use an old window, but i am having a difficult time finding a 4-pane window.  so many are six-pane or more.  any thoughts?
