fluffy puffy :: winter photography

a friend made these puffy flowers and we have decorated a little cart full of found-object snowmen with them. the other day the snow was coming down and i just had to sneak out for a picture! aren't they fun?!

p.s. how are you getting along with holiday planning? i've been wrapping & baking up a storm. o, and shopping. and drinking and crafting. i love this time of year! xoxo

spring snow at night :: night photography :: winter photography

the night of our 'spring blizzard' last weekend, hubby and i helped family and friends out by snow-blowing their driveways.  i was reluctant to get out at first, but after he got me in the truck, i really enjoyed myself.  as we drove around town, the view was lonely and beautiful.  the snow was peaceful.  and it's too rare that we spend time together just the two of us.

spring snow :: nature photography :: winter photography

sometimes i feel like my blog is an outdated weather report due to my love of nature photography.  if you haven't heard, the midwest got pummeled with 16 - 18 inches of snow over the weekend.  now, i'm ready for the spring just like every other person, but i will admit to enjoying this last visit from winter.  our family did a little night-sledding last night which always makes me feel like a kid!  we cozied up to the fire and we filled our tummies full of hot chocolate with an overwhelming amount of marshmallows.  we snuggled.  we bird-watched.  we were lazy.

it was wonderful.  xoxo

white winter :: snow photography

last week, the sun came out and melted all the snow.  fortunately, i was able to wake early and snap a few photographs before it was all gone...

window view :: winter photography

well hello!  sorry for the absence; "the monster" got pretty sick over the last couple days.  all is fine now though.

while we were snuggled in at home, i took a few photos from the warmth of our living room peering out the windows.  i've always thought the way ice and snow gathers is lovely.  especially when i can see it but not feel it... don't you agree?

snow days

it was supposed to snow yesterday and it didn't.  i think i was the only one disappointed by this.  there is just something so romantic about a landscape covered in white.  people who live in wisconsin or michigan, or the like, where it snows all the time probably roll their eyes when they hear me say "i can't wait for it to snow!"

i am still waiting, but until then, i have etsy to satisfy my romantic vision.  here are the most lovely photographs i found while browsing today.

Farm House, by new york photographer gary heller.  i am fascinated by the texture of the barn and the drama the snow and sky add.

now this is romantic!

i love the soft and dreamy feeling this photograph invokes.

original bird photography print by allison trentelman
this is just one of a series of absolutely beautiful bird photographs.

now, seriously, how can you not want it to snow after looking at these!?
