snow day valentines :: kid projects
both crafts are super simple. the first uses a toilet paper roll as a paint brush or stamp. just fold the tube as a heart and dip in paint. my boys stamped heart shapes all over construction paper and then we used that as a background for multiple valentines.
the second involves cutting, so it is best for 4-years and older. we folded a piece of paper and then traced our hands, with the thumb and index finger pressed against the folded side. then cut and unfold. when turned upside down, the space between these two fingers creates a heart shape.
what have you been doing to pass the time?

scrap leather key chains :: diy
everyone needs a key chain. and most people stopped getting them after the age of 17. so go on... get your craft on this weekend and whip up a nostalgic gift for all you love!
details:
- cut your scrap leather into hearts, strips or other shapes. paint onto the leather using fabric paint if desired.
- fold over the leather strips and use a fabric glue to adhere. be careful not to glue the leather to the actual key ring.
- for presentation, punch a hole in cardstock and attach with ribbon or bakers twine. then paint on a lovely note.
happy weekend friends!

thumbprint valentines :: project for kids :: holiday
"bump" is getting a little more interested in our projects! this week, the boys and i made valentines for a few special gals in our lives. i wanted to do something simple so that "bump" could get involved too, and thumbprint valentines were a perfect choice. ink, paper, stickers (and a mess) and the valentines were complete!
going into this, i really had no idea what we would shape their thumbprints into. the tree one above is my favorite, however, there we're a couple 'bugs' that turned out cute too. can you tell that those are hearts in the picture with the panda? what will you do for valentines this year?
p.s. today is the last day to enter the self-portrait contest! i really hope you'll put together a submission. loves.
