map me :: home decor

my husband and i both have a thing for maps.  and, even though i said i wasn't going to get carried away decorating the condo (our temporary home), i am slowly covering every wall.   i can't help it.

and so, i've started myself a little gallery of sorts...  mixed with art, maps & scraps all layered on top of each other.  isn't it fantastic?  i love to sit at my desk while working and daydream about where i will go and what photos i will take next.

texture as art :: photography

i am very attracted to a beautiful texture... which makes sense because at one point in my life, i was to become an actual texture artist for 3d models.  these days i mostly just find myself admiring them.  especially if it has rust and/or corrosion.  i want to frame the first one above my couch in huge, over-sized fashion.

my darling sister-in-law gave us a couple berry baskets for our wedding gift.  i just adore them.  but, seeing as berries really aren't in season right now (and pictures always are), i came up with the above idea.  cute huh?

the diy details:

1. print photos at 4 x 4 size (or slightly smaller than the width of your berry basket).
2. cut matte board or thick art paper to 4.25 x 4.25.
3. use a spray adhesive to adhere the photos onto the backing board.
4. slide photos into the slots at the bottom of the basket.
