urban sassafras artists :: shop news

today i want to feature a few people that make urban sassafras as cool as it is!  each and everything in the shop is handmade or restored from it's vintage glory and these girls below do an amazing job of both.  their talent is definitely something to come check out!

dana's paintings are whimsical, detailed and colorful.  she's also one of the coolest cats i know.  understated and witty, this girl is certainly someone you want to chat up next time you see her.  i feel like she belongs in the corner of some hip coffee shop in the middle of new york... until then though - i've got her here!  yay me!

marci has attitude like no other and it shows thru in her furniture work.  never afraid to take a risk with her color or design choices, it's no wonder that everyone ooo's and awww's over her pieces!

colleen brings her talent from graphic design and a love of style with her to the shop.  she is sweet as can be and a mother of 3 (hey that rhymed!).  i found her set up at an art show in lincoln and her pop-up stood out among many!  it was like i had just walked into the home of my dreams...  when i came to and realized i was just in a tent, i immediately got this girl's number!  check out colleen's adventures outside of urban sass at her blog 'the painted turtle'.

brenda is the mother of our little shop.  she's caring and nurturing and i find myself missing her when she's gone!  o, and to top it off - she's got glam vintage style!  brenda makes gorgeous hairpieces and restores hats from the 20's, 70's, and everything in between.  btw - this girl also makes the most delicate and stunning wedding veil's i have ever seen!  calling all brides - you must stop in soon to meet this lovely lady!

postcard art :: photography :: graphic design

i have been working on a new line of postcard designs for my shop.  lately, i have been loving patterns so i thought i'd mix them with some of my photography.  what do you think?   don't you just find postcards to be the most fun kind of snail mail?

p.s.  i have a name for my shop!  'urban sassafras' will be opening this fall.  what a difficult task it was to come up with the perfect title!  my incredibly talented friend, scott richardson, is working on a logo for me.  we met for lunch yesterday and i'm giddy with excitement!  stay tuned...
